On Saturday, October 12th, activists around the world will take to the streets to protest Monsanto’s contribution to global hunger, poverty, and environmental destruction. What many may not realize, though, is that Monsanto is one of the major backers of TPP. As a member of the US Business Roundtable for TPP, Monsanto is pushing for an agreement that will force countries to lift their bans on foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and that may even restrict GMO labelling! Join GJAE on October 12th to let anti-Monsanto activists know that fighting TPP is a critical part of the fight against Monsanto!

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • Learn more with this online slide presentation.
  • Take action right now with this online action alert from Food Democracy Now!
  •  If you live in NYC, you can join Global Justice for Animals and the Environment, TradeJustice NY Metro/OWS TradeJustice, and Money Wars activists on 1PM at Bryant Park at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan (B, D, F, or M (closer) or or 1,2, 3 N, R, or Q (longer walk) to 42nd Street or 7 to 5th Avenue) (Rally at 1PM,  March at 2PM).  We’ll have costumes, puppets, signs, literature, and form letters for march participants to sign (if you’d like to wear a costume wear black clothing).  Otherwise, you can Find a March Against Monsanto near you and print and distribute the materials listed below.
  • Print copies of this flier to distribute at the march.
  • Print copies of this form letter. There are two letters on a page, so you can cut them and mount a stack on a clipboard. We recommend bringing a bunch of clipboards so you can keep passing additional them out while people are signing the ones you’ve already passed out. Half-sized clipboards (6 by 9) are especially convenient. You can buy half-sized clipboards made of recycled paperboard (Staples carries them) – or you can make your own. Remember to bring pens! After the march, mail completed petitions to Global Justice for Animals and the Environment, 34-21 Crescent Street, Astoria, NY 11106.
